The UARA-STARS head to Greenville Pickens Speedway October 6th  for the Hometown Superette 150” presented by Reynolds Insurance Agency of Marietta, S.C.  The Stars are coming down to the last three events of the season.  The Championship point battle has done some shifting around in the past few races and it is still an open book as to who will clinch the title for 2007.

B.J. Mackey lost the lead to Mark Setzer but is still very much in the hunt with only 37 points separating the two.  Hot on their trail is Ross Furr 14 points behind Mackey.

Current point leader Mark Setzer has an average finish of 7.00.  Setzer has one win, three seconds and two third place finishes and a total of ten top-ten finishes. B.J. Mackey follows close behind Setzer in points and average finish with a 7.31.  Mackey has accumulated two wins, three third place finishes and a total of nine top-ten finishes thus far this season.

Furr has been the most consistent driver of the season with an average finish of 5.33.  He has accumulated 11 top ten finishes.  Furr heads to Greenville on the heels of one of his best runs with the UARA at Franklin County.  Furr lead the most laps and was within 5 laps of a win when he had contact with Alex Yontz causing him to spin out in turn four. His hopes flew away for that elusive first win once again.

Furr said, “ I was just counting the laps as they clicked down. I thought we were going to get that first win.  When we do win it will be a big celebration. We have been consistent all year but just haven’t gotten that win we want, but have been real, real close. We just haven’t sealed the deal. I would love to get the first win at Greenville, but if I can’t get it there then here at Concord our home track.  We’re going to just keep digging and see if we can’t get a few wins before the year is over with.”

Fourth place point contender Matt DiBenedetto has two wins and one pole to his credit. and is very close to the record set by rookie Stephen Wallace in 2004.  Wallace capped his rookie season with two wins and two poles.  DiBenedetto has a great lead in the Melling Select Rookie of the Year ranks with a 200-point lead over second place rookie runner Daniel Pope II.

Rounding out the top ten in points are Alex Yontz, Lee Tissot, Jake Crum Roger Lee Newton, Clay Greenfield and Lucas Ransone.  Kevin Leicht who had climbed to the ninth place spot dropped to twelfth but is still a strong contender to finish in the top ten.
