June 11, 2007 Hendersonville, NC The Chase Is On and Headed to Coastal Plains Raceway! May 3, 2007 the UARA introduced a special bonus program sponsored by Sunoco/Bearden Oil presented by Aluminum Racing Products, GoodYear, Miller Welders and Hobart Equipment Company. The special bonus program is based on five races. The Chase is only a bonus program for the below drivers they must qualify and compete in the final Bristol event to be eligible for the awards. The first event started with Shenandoah on June 2nd and will continue on to Coastal Plains Raceway, Dillon Speedway and both Bristol events. The following drivers are locked in for the Chase:
Roger Lee Newton
Jake Crum
Robbie Ferguson
At the final race of the
chase on August 11th at Bristol, drivers who have attempted to
run all of the chase events will be eligible for the special awards that
have been posted. The awards will be based on the performance at the August
11th event at Bristol. The highest finishing driver in the chase
regardless of race position will receive $2500.00; Second $1000.00; Third
$750.00; Fourth $500.00 and Fifth $250.00. These awards will be in
addition to the regular pay for their official race finishing position.
Aluminum Racing Products will be giving a complete body less windows to
someone in the chase via a draw. The draw will be by a representative of
Aluminum Racing Products. Good/Year will give 4 tires to the sixth and
4 tires to seventh place chase finishers of the August 11th race.
Miller welder will give a wire welder to the chase contender with the worst
luck. Hobart Equipment will award the eighth, ninth and tenth place
finishers of the chase $250.00 per
position.
The 2007 points have
shaken up a bit with B.J. Mackey taking over the top spot from Melling
Select Rookie leader Matt DiBenedetto with a 29 point advantage. Roger
Lee Newton who collected his first UARA-STARS win at Shenandoah moved from 8th
to 5th in the points. Jeffrey Earnhardt fell out of the top
ten and Lucas Ransone moved into tenth positon. The other top ten
drivers are Lee Tissot, Ross Furr, Mark Setzer, Kevin Leicht, Clay
Greenfield and Dennis Queen. At this point there is 116 points
seperating the top ten. That can all change in one night. The
UARA host many determined drivers that are all looking for that first 2007
win.
The Melling Select Rookie of the Year points have also changed. Matt DiBenedetto still holds the lead but now has Daniel Pope II, Mikey Kile and Matt Leicht moving on up the list.
Coastal Plains Raceway will be host to the sixth event of the UARA and may very well have the sixth different RE Suspension winner. The 2006 event at Coastal Plains saw plenty of action with a total of nine cautions. Chad Mullis was the eventual winner after starting in the 27th position.
